Lumbee Tribe Cultural Day with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base
Thursday was an exciting day as we had an opportunity to share our Lumbee Culture with airmen from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. and UNC Pembroke hosted a Culture Day for the airmen. It is one of the many activities throughout American Indian Heritage Month. Thursday afternoon, the airmen participated in a cultural program featuring a variety of Lumbee Cultural activities including dance, songs, traditional foods, storytelling as well as demonstrations of weapons, stick ball, basket making, and much more. Thank you to all of our presenters, our Lumbee Culture Team, the Lumbee Ambassadors, Miss Indian North Carolina, as well as former Ambassadors who came out to share with the airmen. Also thank you to Colonel Tammy Mcelhaney for allowing us to share about the Lumbee People.
