Lumbee Tribal Chairman Lowery spends the week in Washington, DC as consultation begins to fulfill President Trump's Memorandum requirement. This week, Chairman John L. Lowery visited with officials from the White House, the Department of Interior (DOI) as well as numerous lawmakers in Washington, DC as part of the Lumbee Tribe's ongoing efforts toward full federal recognition. The meeting with DOI highlighted the Interior's commitment to follow the recent Presidential Memo. The visits on Capitol Hill, which included Senators Tillis and Budd and other lawmakers from across the country, show the deep bi-partisan support for the Lumbee Fairness Act.
