Joint Settlement for Lumbee Tribe and R.A. Jeffreys

Text of Joint Statement

The Lumbee Tribe and R.A. Jeffreys are pleased to jointly announce that they have agreed to resolve the dispute between them concerning the use of two of the Lumbee Tribe’s trademarks in advertisements created by R.A. Jeffrey’s. The use of the Lumbee Tribe’s trademarks in those ads was a mistake for which R.A. Jeffrey’s takes responsibility and apologizes.

As a show of its support for the local community and the Lumbee Tribe, R.A. Jeffreys is pleased to announce that it has agreed to make a substantial donation to Lumbee Land Development, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves the Lumbee Tribe. The money will be used for educational or youth programs.
